Mental Health Monologues

What is it that your child would want to tell you about their mental health, if they could? What would you want to know?

About the Mental Health Monologues

The Monologues are the powerful true stories of what it feels like as a child or teen to struggle
with mental health challenges. Often, our own children are not able to express their feelings to
us – the adults closest to them in their lives.

The goals of this project are to:

  • Enable parents, caregivers, and communities to better understand the lived experience of young people grappling with feelings of hopelessness, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, or serious mental illnesses
  • Show children, teens, and young adults that there are many young people who have experienced the same things, and that they are not alone.

Each one of these moving monologues is written by a young person and performed by a diverse
cast of seasoned actors.

Host a Screening

If you are interested in hosting a screening and discussion led by Laurie Braun, the Monologues’
